Web Architecture and Interface Design

Netscape Netbusiness
promotional workflows

The Job
In 2000, Netscape launched Netscape Netbusiness, a hub of content and services for small business owners. To promote the site, they offered free services and gifts tothose who registered. They asked me to create a user flow and copy for the campaign, with special attention to the interaction with the site’s registration system—there were half a dozen different user states (registered with Netscape, registered with AOL, not registered, and so on), with different messaging and flows for each.

The Solution
Working with Netscape’s information architect, I determined where the marketing pages would appear within the user flow, then designed the user interface and wrote the copy for each page. Because the pages needed to fit within a standard design, I was able to create comps that could be coded directly from the wireframes.
