Netscape Communications
Communicator site
The Job
In 1998, Netscape made a big change to its flagship software. The leading Web browser, Navigator, was morphing into Communicator, a universal client that included email, Web authoring, and other modules. To complicate matters, the new software was offered in several variations, with different feature combinations. Netscapes explanation of all this was buried in a frame-based navigation system with no clear hierarchies or user paths, creating a very confusing task for a customer trying to find the right software.
The Solution
I analyzed the existing navigation system and proposed a simplified structure based on user needs.
