Netscape Communications
Site Central
The Job
In 1998, GeoCities was doing a land-office business, offering individuals an easy way to set up a Web presence using simple Web-based tools. Netscape wanted to offer a similar service, dubbed Site Central, on its NetCenter portal. I was hired to provide user flows and interface design for the site-building tools.
The Solution
The interface was an early example of a hybrid mixing Web and application vocabularies, using links for Web-like behavior, and buttons for application-like tasks.
