Web Architecture and Interface Design

Schwab Foundation for Learning

The Job
Schwab Foundation for Learning, a Bay Area–based service for parents of children with learning difficulties, wanted to make its offerings available to a broader audience by using the Web. They approached Small Pond Studios to create a Web site that could help parents understand their rights, their options, and how to go about helping their children.

The Solution
As a contractor, I worked with Small Pond’s management and creative team to develop conceptual models and an information archi-tecture for the site, including interactive elements such as a registration program and online forums. The process included extensive user testing of conceptual models, prototypes, and graphic design.

The solution not only helped parents access support information but, through its three-step structure, helped them understand the process they would be following in discovering and understanding ways to help their children.
